How To Make A Mouth-Watering Jollof With Canned Tomato Paste

Anyone who has ever come across a Ghanaian or Nigerian would have heard about the infamous rice dish, ‘Jollof.” It has gained popularity among foreigners all over the world due to its delicious and gratifying taste and flavour. Here are a few tips on how to prepare yourself a good meal and creating your own recipe in the process:

Main ingredients: fresh tomatoes, Canned Tomato Paste, pepper, garlic, ginger, sliced onions, preferred meat, vegetable, cabbage, carrot, green & red paprika, Green Peas

  • You may choose to make this dish with canned tomatoes only or with both fresh tomatoes and canned tomato paste.
  • Season your chosen meat with garlic, ginger, onion and stock seasoning
  • Fry the fresh tomatoes which is blended together with garlic, ginger and or other spices as preferred
  • Add a couple of stock cubes relating to the meat being used for extra flavouring
  • Pour the liquid from the seasoned meat on the fried tomatoes and add a bit of pepper and let it cook for a while
  • Add chopped mushrooms, green & Red Paprika,

  • Add a measured amount of rice to the sauce and let it cook for about 15 minutes.Constantly check to prevent burning
  • Add chopped onions, cabbage, carrot, some more paprika when the Jollof is almost ready
  • Fry the seasoned meat
  • Serve hot
