Do you usually pour the juice from the canned fruit cocktail down the drain, after taking out the fruits? That would be a terrible waste of good juice! The juice in the canned fruit cocktail or other canned fruit products are delicious and has many uses. It can be added to other beverages or liquids to enhance taste or as a natural sweetener. It can also be used as flavoring for deserts like ice cream, muffins, pies, etc. Here’s a few great uses of the juice:
1. You can drink the juice directly. The section on nutritional value on the product labels usually outlines the vitamins and nutrients present in the natural residue of fruits in each can. Essentially, by drinking the juice from the fruits, you are assured of all the nutritional benefits contained in the fruits.
2. You are able to make fruit-flavored water with the same juice. Just add 1 to 2 tablespoons of the leftover juice to a glass of clean, cold or warm water. You may add as much juice as desired.
3. Now if you’re a tea lover, you can add some of the juice to your lemon tea or raspberry tea. You also can mix the juice from the frozen white peaches or apricots with green tea, or with black tea for a refreshing taste!
4. With the summer heat, we all naturally crave some cold beverages to cool off. The juices are a great means to this end. Just pour the juice from canned fruit salad to an ice cube tray, and put it in the refrigerator to freeze.
Once frozen, they become delicious ice cubes that can be eaten as popsicles or used as savory ice cubes to flavor and refresh other beverages. These juices can also be added directly to boost the taste of the various flavors of ice teas.
